2020 Tour Cancelled
Out of an abundance of caution for our community, we are currently suspending all volunteer-led community outreach programs, events, presentations, and activities. As such, we are canceling the 2020 Inside Austin Garden Tour. The next tour date is yet to be determined.
What is the Inside Austin Gardens Tour?
The Inside Austin Gardens Tour (IAGT) originated in 2005 and is held every 18 months by the Travis County Master Gardeners Association and Travis County AgriLife Extension Service. The one-day event features behind-the-scenes looks at gardens of various Travis County Master Gardeners. As many as 2,500 people typically attend.
What’s On the Tour?
Gardens on the tour provide a variety of learning opportunities, including seeing and understanding drought/deluge-tolerant plants, Earth-Kind® landscaping and butterfly, herb, vegetable, and succulent garden types. The always-evolving Travis County Demonstration Garden, a free stop on the tour, features a shade garden, an extensive herb garden, vegetables, a composting area, rose garden, and rainwater collection system.
IAGT is a “For Gardeners, By Gardeners” tour that opens the imagination of visitors to what is possible using time-tested native and adapted plants, a little creativity, and a resilient love of gardening.
Educational programs conducted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service are open to all people without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, sexual orientation or gender identity.
